Good morning!

Grab a cup of coffee, and let’s sit down for a bit. Last week, we started shaping those big, bold goals for 2024. If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by what you’re planning to accomplish this year, then take a nice deep breath because we’re going to start making that goal much more realistic, right… about… now.

Today, let’s talk about the nuts and bolts of turning those goals into your daily reality. It’s like building a bridge from where you are now to where you want to be.

Creating Your Action Plan

Think of your goal as a destination. You wouldn’t set off on a long journey without a map, right? Our ‘Goals to Done’ framework is just that – a map to guide you. It’s about breaking down that big, sometimes intimidating goal into smaller, more manageable parts. It looks a little something like this…

  1. First, we’re going to break our SMART Goal down into Quarterly Milestones. That’s what this week is all about.

  2. Then, we’ll take those Quarterly Milestones and break each quarter down into Monthly Projects. We’ll tackle that next week.

  3. Finally, we’ll break each monthly project into weekly tasks we can tackle.

An approach like this changes our perspective on that giant, intimidating mountain of a goal (“I’m going to hit 6-figures by December 31st, working 4 hours a day, 4 days a week!”). Instead of being overwhelmed by its enormity, we can shift our focus. We can, instead concentrate on just the next step… the one right in front of us. By taking these steps one at a time, we’ll find ourselves at the top of the mountain by the end of the year.

So, let’s jump into that first step today, defining our…

    Quarterly Checkpoints: Your Progress Markers

Let’s break down the year into quarters. Each quarter is a checkpoint, a moment to pause and see how far you’ve come and if you’re on track to hit that goal.

Let’s stick with that example goal from above: $100k in revenue by December 31st, working 4 hours a day, 4 days a week.

So, we just need to make $25k each Quarter, right?

Well… yeah, but… how realistic is that?

If we only made $25k all year in 2023, can we really expect to hit that same goal in the first quarter of 2024 (in our slow season, no less)? Nah, let’s build ourselves a bit of an onramp, instead.

With a goal like the one above, I’d say you should try something like:
